ROLES: LEAD PRODUCT DESIGNER

MoneyGram International, needed to update their Careers site to bring in new talent that would compete with their competitors.

The Problem:

MoneyGram’s career site was older and having less and less interaction from potential new employees. The ask was to solve this issue by evolving and updating to a modern eco-system and design for their front-end career site and their third party application site on an international scale.

The Mission:

Attract, inspire and engage talent by establishing a great sense of culture and by providing valuable information and a best-in-class web experience that outperforms our competition.

The Breakdown

  1. We had questions on questions that needed to be defined and answered before really starting anything. So we had a workshop that broke down the existing site and we looked at the Functionality, Appeal and Impact that we wanted from this new Careers Site.

  2. From there we Blue Sky Approached the situation with the full team. Each participant from the workshop threw up their own stickies. All stickies are welcome in this brainstorm!

The User Journey

Pain points are a crucial part of the user journey to understand as a whole before tackling the problem. The workshop group had team members who were well-versed in the careers site to enlighten the newbie’s on problems that existed.

While new or existing we discovered gaps in the process that solve for a full redesign in some areas and subtle improvements in other areas.

Value & Effort

When it comes down to it, value and effort will always be the commanding force when getting a problem to the finish-line. Our thought was to map that our early with our Engineers, Architects, and Devs to make sure of the best possible outcome.

Third Party Application

While MoneyGram owned the first impression of the user when coming to the site. When actually applying for a position they worked with a Third Party Application. This was a big pain point for the stakeholder, so we researched other companies that could better this experience.

The Final Design & Report

After all the research, user journeys, requirements, logic, risk and legal documentation. We pushed out a new modern design that has successfully helped the problem that was first given to the team.

  • In the first 30 days, the careers site saw a uptick in impressions by 28%.

  • There was a 20% uptick in applications that were sent for potential jobs.
